Linden Warns Second Life is Only 17, Avatars Can’t Drink Yet

Avatars can’t drink alcohol yet because Second Life is technically only 17 years old. Linden sent a memo to all the employees last month reminding everybody avatar are still underage, and buying booze and drinking is still illegal. “If avatars can’t drink, call it the Sober Grid” – someone yelled from the other side of the Linden Office.

“What about sex?” asked a puzzled engineer ? “We are all underage, who cares?” replied the marketing department.

Alcohol will be legal in 2024 for the first residents that logged in inworld. For residents born in 2006, that will happen in 2027.
